National Eye Health Week 2026
Asda Opticians are proud to be supporting this year's National Eye Health Week (NEHW), which will take place from 21st to 27th September 2026, promoting the importance of good eye health and the need for regular eye tests for all.

When did you last have an eye test?
Routine sight tests are vital health checks for all. They can spot signs of eye disease years before you notice a change in your vision & help to detect a range of common health conditions, including Diabetes, Hypertension & Heart Disease. Get your eyes tested this National Eye Health Week, because vision matters.

Childrens Eye Health
1 in 5 children are living with an undiagnosed vision problem. Help keep their eyes healthy with regular check ups, eating a healthy diet, limiting screen use, spending 2 hours a day outdoors and wearing sunglasses.
Extended screen time can be associated with an increased risk of developing myopia (near sightedness) and the onset of dry eye in children. During an eye test an Optometrist can provide advice on how to reduce the likelihood, for example by limiting your child's screen use and balance with time spent outdoors.

Your diet, weight, activity, alcohol intake & smoking status can all affect your chances of suffering chronic eye conditions, including the 4 main causes of sight loss:

Looking after your eyes
Regular eye tests are important for more than just correcting your vision. You can also have an enhanced eye test at selected stores using the latest OCT technology.
They can reveal a number of other underlying problems such as glaucoma and diabetes. At Asda Opticians an eye test is only £24 or you may be entitled to this for free under the NHS.
